The process of making this recipe is as follows.


  1. Moong dal
  2. Ghee
  3. Sugar
  4. Almonds
  5. Coconut 
  6. Cardamom powder
  7. Milk
  8. Water

Steps to be followed:

Step:1 Soak the Moong dal overnight and drain the water.

Step:2 Add the Moong dal into a mixer grinder and grind them into a fine paste.

Step:3 In a clean pan, add about 10 tablespoons of fresh ghee and let it melt completely.

Step:4. Add the Moong Dal paste in the pan and stir well.

Step:5 Keep on stirring them on a low to medium flame. First the halwa is pasty, then it will start getting lumpy and this is the time where the raw smell goes. 

Step:6 In another pan, take 1 cup of whole milk, 2 cups water and 1 cup of sugar. Keep this pan on the stove top and stir so that the sugar dissolves. Heat this milk-water-sugar mixture till it comes to  a boil.

Step:7 Meanwhile, the Moong dal will become in a granular form and the colour will change. Then, add the milk mixture to the Moong dal.

Step:8 Stir them well in a low flame. The water should get absorbed and you can find the ghee getting separated.

Step:9 Add some almonds and cardamom powder as per your taste and the tasty Moong dal halwa is ready to eat now.

2.Moong dal pakora

The key ingredients to make this snack are as follows.


  1. Moong dal
  2. Red chillies
  3. Onions 
  4. Ginger garlic paste
  5. Jeera
  6. Salt to taste
  7.  masala
  8. Green chillies

  11. Oil

Step:1 Soak the Moong dal in water overnight. Drain it and let it get dry.

Step:2 Put them in a mixer grinder with red chillies and grind them into a coarse mixture.

Step:3 Put the mixture into a clean bowl and add sliced onions, ginger garlic paste, green chillies, jeera, curry leaves, coriander leaves,  masala and salt.

Step:4 Mix everything well. The mixture should be moist and not too dry. Now heat the oil in a pan and let it get heated.

Step:5 Take some mixture and make it into a ball and put them in the oil. Keep stirring them in a medium flame for better taste.

3.Moong dal kachori

This kachori is another best recipe that enhances your mood to another level. It is enjoyed by most of the people in India. This crisp indian snack recipe is made with plain flour and spiced moong dal stuffing. Usually, this recipe tastes better if consumed together with tea or coffee which makes it the perfect evening snack ever.

To make this recipe, use the following ingredients for a delicious and a healthy kachori.


  1. Moong dal
  2. Water (for soaking)
  3. Ghee / clarified butter
  4. Fennel (crushed)
  5. Cumin
  6. Hing
  7. Turmeric powder
  8. Chillies
  9. Coriander powder
  10.  masala
  11. Amchur
  12. Ginger powder
  13. Salt
  14. Besan
  15. Maida

Step:1 Soak the Moong dal in a bowl of fresh water for about 2 hours. Drain them and transfer it into a mixer jar.

Step:2 Grind them into a coarse mixture and transfer it in a bowl.

Step:3 Meanwhile, in a pan, heat 1 tablespoon of  ghee, add 1 tablespoon fennel, 1 tablespoon cumin, pinch of hing. Saute on low flame until the spices turn aromatic.

Step:4 Further, add ¼ tablespoon turmeric, 1 tablespoon chilli, 1 tablespoon coriander powder, 1 tablespoon  masala, 1 tablespoon amchur, ¼ tablespoon ginger powder and ½ tablespoon salt. Saute until the spices turn aromatic.

Step:5 Now, add ¼ cup besan and roast on low flame until the besan turns aromatic. Then, add in the coarsely ground moong dal mixture.

Step:6 Mix and cook for 5 minutes until the moong dal is well combined. Now, the Moong dal stuffing is ready to use.

Step:7 Meanwhile in a large bowl, take 2½ cup maida, ½ tablespoon of salt, pour in 3 tablespoons of hot ghee and mix them well.

Step:8 Then, add water as required and knead them into a smooth dough. Grease the dough with oil, cover and rest for 30 minutes.

Step:9 Now, take a small size of dough and roll it well. Drop them in a hot oil, keeping the flame on low.

Step:10 Flip them well and your kachori is ready to serve. For best taste, serve them with hot tea or coffee.

4.Dal tadka

A wonderful recipe for chapati, Dal Tadka is a healthy recipe that has enormous protein and nutritional content in it. It is widely popular in the states of Northern India and commonly consumed with roti and rice as a staple food. Step:2 Add in ¼ tablespoon of turmeric, ½ tsp chilli powder, 1 tsp salt and add ¾ cup of washed Moong dal and 3 cups of water.

Step:3 Mix everything well, cover and pressure cook on medium flame for 1-2 whistles.

Step:4 Now, prepare the tadka and pour the tempering over dal along with 2 tablespoons of coriander leaves and 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice.

Step:5 Finally, mix the moong-dal tadka and serve it with hot rice or roti as per your choice.

5.Moong sprouts salad

  3. Turmeric powder

Step:1 Soak the Moong dal overnight in water and grind them well in a grinder into a smooth batter.

Step:2 Add ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder, ¼ teaspoon red chilli powder, ½ teaspoon cumin powder and some salt to taste.

Step:3 Stir them well and add chopped coriander leaves, onion, chilies and ginger into the batter and mix them well.

Step:1 Soak about one cup of moong dal in a clean bowl. Drain the water and make it into a smooth paste.
